BGSA_Rule_Guide_2023.pdf

When does the season start and finish?

The House League season for U7 T-ball to U23 Midget starts the 1st full week of May (outdoor clinics for the month of May). The season finishes by the end of August/early September with a Day of Champs tournament (U23 finishes by Mid - August to allow the girls to get ready to head back to Colleges/Universities as applicable)

Can I play with my friends?

Players are with other girls their own age, according to the year they are born. We cannot promise to honor all requests as we get many and we want to ensure that each team has a similar level of skill. If you need a specific request due to uncontrollable circumstances, please note on your registration form and we can try. If you are new and wanting to play with a friend, also note that…. this is a situation we will GUARANTEE you can be on your friend’s team to welcome you and make you feel comfortable in your FIRST year. We try to spread new players across the teams as well as skilled players.

What equipment do I need?

All players will need a glove and batting helmet with a face mask. Running shoes or cleats are acceptable. Pitchers in the older age groups may wish to purchase their own pitching mask. Fielding masks are also recommended.

Where could I play?

Permits have not been assigned yet from the city, we will update this information as soon as possible. All diamonds are located West of the 410. Generally the locations are as follow but may change prior to the season starting.

U7 Tball/Learn to Play = Fred Kline Park
U9 = Richvale Park/Fred Kee
U11 = Richvale Park/Fred Kee
U13 = Moorehead, South Fletcher’s & Drinkwater
U15
= Fred Klein, South Fletcher’s & Drinkwater
U18 = Moorehead, South Fletcher's & Drinkwater
U23 = Fairgrounds

Fiel
d assignments will be on the schedule provided by the coach.

How often are the games?

Based on the number of teams in each division, there are usually 2 games one week and one game the next, about 20-22 games throughout the season. U7 T-Ball, U18 & U23 divisions play only one night a week.

How often are practices?

On the night you do not have a game (example if you usually play Tuesdays and Thursdays), the coach may have a practice. The coach, with consensus from the parents, may choose other times for practices, especially early in the season.

What does the fee include?

The fee includes the uniform (jersey, shorts (U18 and below) and socks), Day of Champs trophy or medal, usually a hotdog, chips, drink. Equipment (Bats, balls and back-catcher gear) is supplied to the coach by the league.

What if I am on vacation or busy with activities?

In May many players are still finishing spring activities, and you may have summer vacation planned. Please tell your coach ahead of time so they can plan, and call extra players if need be.

What if I’ve never played before?

We welcome new players at any age level. You will be placed in a division based on your age, not your skill level. It is helpful in the older age groups (U18 and U23) to be able to throw and catch as there are many experienced players and safety is a factor. Visit our Skills Clinic section to learn more about FREE (with paid registration) indoor clinics available in the winter/spring.

What happens next after I register?

Once you register and make your payment, we will work to make teams in May. A coaches meeting will take place the middle-end of April and a coach will call you the last week of April-1st week in May to have a practice/outdoor clinic. Once teams are formed your coach will give you your uniform and schedule.

Are there any weekend activities?

House League runs Monday to Thursday for weekly scheduled games. The league may run a Season Kick Off Tournament (June 23, 2024 generally) & a Day of Champs season ending tournament (end of August, early September) for most age groups.

When do I play?

Games fall on the following days (subject to change based on diamond availability)

U7 Tball/Learn to Play = Thursdays

U9 = Mondays and Wednesdays
U11 = Tuesdays and Thursdays
U13 = Mondays and Thursdays
U15 = Mondays and Wednesdays

U18 = Tuesdays - Double Headers
U23 = Mondays - Double Headers

What is Learn to Play?

The Learn to Play/Tball program has been adapted from Softball Ontario. This program works through skills and drills and fun activities each week to develop the skills needed at the 5 and 6 year old level. There will be a progression into a modified t-ball game as the season progresses. There is no score kept. Parents are encouraged to participate at the request of the coach. We recognize that it is important for players to have the skills necessary before being put in game situations.

Can I get a refund if we decide not to play?

Once the season commences we are unfortunately not able to offer a refund. If prior to May, we will offer a refund less a $25 administration fee. Please note if you joined our indoor clinics through the offseason you will not be provided a refund as the clinics were included as part of a fully paid registration.
